Configuring the mG-T30 Scale for Hardwired Connection

Please Note: At this point in the process of setting up your new scale, the power cord should be plugged into the scale and a nearby outlet, and the serial cable should only be plugged into the scale.

If you previously set up your scale to use Bluetooth, but would like to switch over to a hardwired connection, you’ll need to find the serial cable and purchase the recommended serial cable adaptor.

You can purchase the serial cable adaptor here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RFNHTL9?ref=fed_asin_title

If the serial cable was misplaced, please email support@orderdog.com for assistance.

Additional Materials: You will need a small Phillips screwdriver to connect the serial cable to the serial cable adaptor.

Plugging in the Adaptor

  1. Press the serial cable and the adaptor together.
  2. Start to screw in the screws on both sides of the serial cable, going back and forth between them to ensure an even connection.
  3. Double check that the threading of the screw is not visible on either side. Otherwise, the adaptor and serial cable are now connected.
  4. Plug in the USB side of the adaptor to your point of sale.

The serial cable has now been plugged into the point of sale. Now, we need to configure the scale to use this hardwired connection.

Configuration Settings for the Scale

Please Note: Make sure you are on the main sales screen before configuring your scale. Make sure your scale is powered off. The screen at the front should not be lit up and there should be no letters or numbers on it yet. If the scale is on, press and hold the Zero|on/off button (or simply the Zero button) to turn it off.

  1. Press the Zero button to turn on the scale. As it turns on, press the Tare button in quick succession to enter configuration mode.
    1. If done incorrectly, the screen on the scale will show “0.000”, meaning it is in weighing mode. Simply power it off and try again.
  2. The display should now read “F0 bL”.
    1. Press the Tare button until the display shows “F2 Con”.
    2. Press the Zero button to confirm.
  3. The display should now read “bt”.
    1. Press the Tare button until the display shows “Port”.
    2. Press the Zero button to confirm.
  4. The display should now read “oFF”.
    1. Press the Tare button until the display shows “Ask”.
      1. The ‘k’ kind of looks like a ‘t’ for this setting.
    2. Press the Zero button to confirm.
  5. The display should now read “F2 Con” again.
    1. Press the Tare button until the display shows “bACk”.
    2. Press the Zero button to confirm.

Testing Your New Scale

  1. Scan/manually select a product that has the “Prompt for Weight” setting turned on. The weighing screen should pop up.
  2. Set the item on the scale, and make sure that the “Scale Weight” updates with the weight of the item on the scale.
  3. After verifying that everything looks correct, you can select “Add Weight” to add the weighed item to the transaction with its corresponding price.

YOU’RE DONE!
